The SIAM International Meshing Roundtable Workshop 2027 solicits research notes which describe new ideas, exploratory research, preliminary results, or updates to previously published research in the field of meshing. For a list of example research note topics, please refer to the Call for Papers. Authors may submit either a single paragraph abstract or a short paper (at most 4 pages). Accepted submissions will be presented as a talk at the conference.
Research Notes are checked by the committee before acceptance to ensure they are appropriate for the conference. They are not peer reviewed and do not have to be anonymous.
Important Dates
Note that deadlines are End of Day, Anywhere on Earth.
- Call for research notes: 1 June 2026
- Research note submission deadline: 23 December 2026
- Decision regarding acceptance/rejection: 8 January 2027
Policies
- For accepted research notes, at least one author must register for the IMR. Participants may be authors of multiple papers or research notes.
- Each accepted research note must be presented at the IMR. Each IMR participant will be limited to giving one paper or research note presentation but can be the non-presenting author in other papers or research notes.
- The conference is currently planned to be held in person. Submitters should make themselves aware of the current travel and immigration restrictions/requirements.
- The SIAM IMR committee will award a prize for the best presentation of a research note.
- Notes will appear on the IMR website after the conference.
Submission
Submitting a research note is a two-step process. First, authors must initiate a submission on OpenConf by adding the title, author information, topic areas, and abstract. Authors will then receive an email with the submission ID and can submit their manuscript files to OpenConf using this submission ID and password.
To submit a research note, authors must upload a .zip file to OpenConf. At the very least, this .zip file must contain the PDF version of the paper (see the template for details). Authors are permitted to include supplementary materials with this initial submission. Unlike technical paper submissions, research note submissions need not be anonymized. The OpenConf submission website has a file size limit of 64 MB, so please ensure your research note (including supplementary material) does not exceed this limit.
The OpenConf submission website will be available in July 2026.
All authors and presenters are encouraged to also submit technical papers, posters, and meshing contest entries.
Formatting Requirements
Research notes are at least a paragraph and at most 4 pages including figures, tables, and appendices, but excluding references. Authors are welcome to submit supplementary material to the actual research note, however the paper must be complete without it. Acceptable supplementary material includes:
- Lengthy or detailed experimental results, beyond summaries in the research note itself
- Code or pseudocode
- Datasets: publicly sharing input models that others can try their algorithms on is especially welcome
- Images
- Animations
- Proofs
Authors must use the SIAM two-column template for all submissions, while strictly following the guidelines provided above for each submission type.
Since accepted papers will be published in the SIAM Proceedings, authors must also follow the SIAM Editorial Policy on Artificial Intelligence.
Review Process
Reviews will be performed by the Organizing Committee by early January, with decisions coming immediately thereafter.
Authors requiring travel authorization may contact the Committee ahead of time for a preliminary decision.
Presentation
Each accepted research note will be given 10 minutes for presentation followed by 5 minutes for Q&A.
